Summer's winding down

Hey everyone, I took a short hiatus from this blog for no real reason I'm just lazy...which is something I'm working on. There have been so many good/interesting stories in the past month that I wanted to write about but since I didn't I will make it up within the next few days. It might be all old news but it doesn't matter there are always people out there that are out of the loop, so starting tomorrow I will continue with posts as for now I'm watching some good Chris Rock stand up, if you haven't seen any of his HBO specials I highly recommend them :)

Wisdom teeth extraction

My bottom wisdom tooth has been bothering me on and off for months prior to Saturday (26th) so I finally decided it was time to get it removed. Initially I wanted to let them grow out to replace my molars but soon found out that's a terrible idea since your wisdom teeth are a lot weaker than your molars and therefore useless.

So right up until a few minutes of the preparation for my surgery I was excited to finally get those suckers removed (yup all four), but as the time came closer and closer I got more and more nervous, I started picturing the surgery in my head over and over again. I was wondering how they were going to remove my top wisdom teeth since my mouth can only open so wide, on top of all that I was being yelled at/judged by the dentists and nurses surrounding me regarding my choice in footwear and my dress code. Yes I was told to wear jeans, a t-shirt and sneakers on the day of the surgery but they didn't tell me why, I just thought they wanted me to be comfortable but since it was nearly 90 degrees outside I felt a dress and flip flips were a better choice. Then they moved on to talking about my piercings and blah blah blah, what an annoying set of people. But I digress, the surgery went well, I don't think they put me down for it but I remember waking up while my last tooth was being removed, it didn't hurt but I definitely screamed preemptively just because I could feel the pressure that was being applied to my mouth.

All in all it went over quicker than I thought, they kept me in my seat for a long time with my face covered with an ice pack and my eyes partially covered which made me really uncomfortable. I don't know how to express my feelings at that point but I was not comfortable, I was a little out of it and there was really no one around that I was comfortable enough to be around. My mom was there but when it came time to go home she let me go on my own...it was a bad experience I felt like I was in a new city, a new state, my tongue and lip were still very numb I was biting down on my blood soaked gauze the whole time and was told to never spit my blood out and to always swallow it.

After I got home I basically went to bed, and to think I was planning on hanging out with some friends after the surgery. Now that my face is not numb it's a lot better besides the pain factor which is definitely still there. On the bright side this is the only time I'll ever have to worry about my wisdom teeth, and as the dentist said "the next time you'll have to worry about wisdom teeth is with your husband or with your kids."

Earthquake

I experienced my first earthquake today, it wasn't a big one but it was the first I had ever felt. It was a 5.5 magnitude earthquake, it seemed as though I was the only one in class who felt it because while it was happening I looked around and no one was reacting :/

It's been a slow week, mainly because I've been really lazy/tired. I tend to stay up all night to do my homework, go to class then come back go to bed, wake up and start the cycle all over again. Hopefully going back home will reset my sleep cycle. I can't wait to go back, it's too deserted up here, some days it's a nice thing to have but other days it's torture. It sucks I won't be able to enjoy the city the way I normally would since I have my surgery scheduled for Saturday, wisdom teeth extraction, all four of them it should be an experience and it better end with me getting a whole bottle of pain killers. On the brights side I'll be drinking water and eating congee for many days to come :D I love congee so it's something to look forward to.

Before I leave to do my thing I'm going to leave you guys with a video that I find both great and disturbing...it's a video of a group of girls dancing to the song "Single Ladies", it's not the same choreography, they have their own little spin on it and these girls are great dancers I just don't think the outfit is quite appropriate for children their age. The more I think about it and watch it the more it seems fitting, but I still think the outfits are too much, what do you guys think?

Men in Black III

Last night I was invited to a friend's house for dinner, the dinner was great as was the company. We chose to sit on the deck because it was so nice outside, but looking at my mosquito bites I think I could have planned that one a little better, nonetheless it was a good decision. We all started with a light dinner conversation but after two bottles of wine and a few shots the conversation definitely turned. One of the dinner guests had to leave but shortly after my friend's housemate took her spot and continued the conversation. The reason I wrote all this is because one of the topics that came up was Will Smith and his movies, turns out there's an MIB III coming out! I KNOW!!!!! I can't believe it! The release date is said to be May 25th, 2012, I can't wait!!!!!!!

Brands expected to disappear by 2011

Just got back from class, first thing I did? Eat some peanut butter yummm ^_^ but after that I turned on my computer as usual and what do I see? An article that intrigued me, just a little, it was about Zales and the fact that they're doing so poorly that they might be gone by 2011. I know that's not that interesting, it's not like I shop there but on that same page was a link to a list of brands that are expected to disappear by 2011, so I click on it out of curiosity, lo and behold! T-Moblie is on the list! YES! I hate T-Moblie, I've always been a Cingular/AT&T person and I'm glad they're going to be gone their service sucks here in NY. Also on the list is Blockbusters (not surprised), BP (no way! I wonder why) .If you're not excited that's not really my problem.

In other news, obese women lack sex partners; More likely to get pregnant accidentally. If the last bit of news didn't interest you, this should :) I won't go into detail but the link will be below, click it when you have a few minutes to spare, it's definitely worth it.

Kinect

As I'm sitting here attempting to study for my Calculus exam which is in about 7 hours I'm distracted, as always, by the internet and everything on the internet. I started watching a YouTube video my friend sent me, and it's a video of "The Project Natal Experience" aka Kinect (for Xbox 360), and oh...my...GOODNESS!!! This thing is amazing, forget the Wii that's so last year, this is it right here. As I'm watching this and watching people in the video play with Kinect I'm thinking "Where the hell was I?!" Unfortunately I will have to wait, along with the general public, until November of this year (thankfully) to get my hands on one of these bad boys. I'm actually surprised that it will be out November of this year as opposed to next year, but I guess a five month wait is already long enough for some. As far as the price goes, it will probably be around $150-$250 if I had to guess, give or take...mostly give, which is a pretty reasonable price, but if you don't already have the game console or if you want the new one that would be an extra few hundred, and of course you would have to buy at least one game which would jack the price up even more, thankfully the Kinect works with any Xbox 360. I personally don't care how much is costs I want it. Alright I'm off to do a lot more studying and homework doing so until next time peace :)
